Ethan Ahkvaluk was born in Nome and has spent most of his life there. In Kotzebue between the ages of 8 and 16, Ethan moved back to the Gold Rush City to finish high school. He plans next to go to college for a degree in marine biology.

“I have always been into radio,” Ethan says; volunteering at KNOM was a natural fit. Ethan has worked with KNOM staffers and volunteer fellows to help cover air shifts, and he frequently helps out with miscellaneous programming and office tasks.

When he’s not studying or learning to be a deejay, Ethan enjoys running, biking, berry-picking, fishing, swimming, and going to the beach with his family in the summer. He loves to travel, too — but for now, Nome is home.
