A major milestone in the development of Nome’s Arctic Deep Draft Port is coming up later this month. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Port of Nome’s contractors must have 95% of the design finalized by the end of November and so far, things are on track.

Unofficial election results show incumbent Neal Foster of Nome leading Tyler Ivanoff of Shishmaref by one percent of the vote. Not all votes have been tallied yet, as zero have come in from Gambell so far.

CDC reports racial disparity in COVID impact

A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (coauthored by a Department of Health and Social Services employee) found that Alaska Native people face disproportionate risks from COVID-19, compared to white residents in Alaska.
