Lady Nanooks kick off volleyball season

The Nome-Beltz Middle/High School Volleyball team started off its season by playing North Pole in a home game over the weekend of Aug. 26.  The Lady Nanooks won the first match on Friday three games to two. They lost the second matchup on Saturday, Aug. 27, one to three.

On Friday, Nome beat North Pole 25 to 23, 26 to 24 and 15 to 13. It lost to North Pole 24 to 26 and 12 to 25, winning the day by three games to two. On Saturday, the Lady Nanooks won one game, 25 to 22, and then lost three games 18 to 25, 23 to 25 to and 22 to 25, making them lose the day, one to three.

Meanwhile, the Nome-Beltz junior varsity team beat the Nome-Beltz High School C team two to zero in both Friday’s and Saturday’s matchups.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m., the Lady Nanooks Volleyball team will play Kenai at Kenai Central High School. The game will be live-streamed on YouTube.

Then on Friday, Sept. 2, the Lady Nanooks will take part in the Kenai and Seward Tourney pool play, along with teams from Anchorage Christian School, Delta Junction High School, Grace Christian School, Homer High School, Houston High School, Redington High School and Seward High School.

They will advance onto the Saturday, Sept. 3, Seward Tournament based on how they do the day before.
