Female Wrestling Captain Talks Discipline, Commitment on Kids’ Show

Katie Smith, the captain of Nome’s high school wrestling team, told listeners what she loves most about her team, the Lady Nanooks, who took first place in the Northern Conference the last two years.

Smith discussed the consistent discipline required to train for wrestling. She also described the impacts of the pandemic on the school and a sport that requires very close physical contact.

Smith signed off with a personal shoutout to Miss Harlow – “thank you for being an amazing math teacher!”
