Nome-Beltz Student Activities plan to hold additional home events this week. The Nome-Beltz Middle School Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams will play another series of games starting this evening [Wednesday, Feb. 3rd] from 4:30 to 6:30pm. On Friday, the Nanook Varsity Boys will play the Adult Recreation team at 7pm.
Saturday’s series of games will again feature the Nome-Beltz Middle School Girls’ and Boys’ teams, concluding with a game between the Lady Nanooks and JV Boys at 7pm.
Nome-Beltz Activities Director, Patrick Callahan, says there are no official games against other high schools currently scheduled, but there is a possibility of playing Kotzebue and/or Unalakleet this season. According to Activities Specialist Brendan Ellis, Bering Strait School District (BSSD) schools that are on “GREEN” status are currently practicing, and some sites are arranging Alumni games within their communities.
A proposal and mitigation plan for competition between villages will be presented to the BSSD School Board at their upcoming meeting. All games at the NBHS gym will be live-streamed on the Nome-Beltz Student Activities webpage.
