Alaska State Troopers (AST) and the Anchorage Airport Interdiction Team (AAIT) seized alcohol and marijuana at Nome airport on October 7th around 11am.  Troopers say three suspects, Spencer Pungalik, Richard Wells, and Skyler Wells, were all involved in this incident.

The group was identified by AAIT to be intending to import liquor to the village of Noorvik, which is a dry community. AST and AAIT responded and seized a total of 45 bottles of alcohol, marijuana, and marijuana concentrate.

74 additional bottles were seized at Anchorage airport before the individuals boarded the plane to Nome. Charges of importation, along with a couple other charges license or permit required, and minor in consumption have been filed in this case.

KNOM asked Sergeant David Chaffin with AAIT to confirm that the individuals had been arrested, and he said he could not. Chaffin also declined to provide further details about this case.
