“Dear Friend…” (July 2020)

What is the difference between change and transformation?

Change focuses on the past and reacts in the short-term. Change wishes things were better. Change is transactional – it replaces one thing with another.

Transformation, on the other hand, is a deliberate choice based on foundational values. It creates consensus, trust and a safe place for vulnerability and discernment. Transformation focuses on the future. Transformation invests in hope. Those who work toward transformation move together with new vision.

Jesus came to the world to transform it. His followers build God’s vision.

KNOM’s 49 years of broadcasting faith, inspiration, news and education records transformative hope from Western Alaska and amplifies it.

Thank you!

I receive The Nome Static newsletter and very much appreciate this piece on change and transformation. I have shared it with our Franciscan Action Network staff in DC and with our Sisters of St. Francis JPIC committee. Thank you.
