“YOURS FOR WESTERN ALASKA”

(907) 443-5221

‘Dear Friend of KNOM…’ (February 2020)

Patience, endurance, and resiliency are typical attributes of Western Alaskans.

2019 ended with some of the mildest weather on record. 2020, on the other hand, blew in with temperatures far below zero and wind chills reaching -70 degrees. The lack of insulating snow compounded buildings’ vulnerability to freezing.

Through all these challenges, folks adapt, bundle up, and work to make repairs. There’s more than just relief when a situation is returned to normal, there’s a feeling of accomplishment and perhaps even a little bit of pride.

Hard times are the grit that God uses to polish His gems, producing Alaskans who sparkle.

Thank you for helping people stay informed and prepare for tough conditions!
