Nome Council Reviews Budget Amendments and NSEDC Funds

Double doors with a small placard reading "Council Chambers."

Tonight, organizations from around Nome find out if they will be beneficiaries of the Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation’s Community Benefits Share, as the Nome City Council plans to award those funds during their regular meeting.

Now that the 2020 fiscal year is halfway through, the Council begins its discussion on budget amendments. In addition, half of the Council’s agenda tonight includes resolutions for labor contracts for upcoming projects, including the Nome Inner Harbor Launch Repair Project.

While the regular meeting begins at 7pm, the Council will meet at 5:30pm for a lengthy work session beginning with a review of the FY 2019 audit results. Then the Council will discuss the possibility of adding an excise tax on alcohol and marijuana.

The Nome Common Council convenes tonight at City Hall.
