Nanooks JV Wrestlers Atop the Podium at Road-System Tournament

On the 15th and 16th of November, the Nome wrestling team, accompanied by at least one Bering Strait School District team, Gambell, headed to Wasilla for the Lancer Smith Memorial Invitational.

The Nanooks took a full team, including both varsity and JV squads, as well as their junior high team.

The Nome varsity boys were led by Elden Cross’s sixth place finish in the 145 weight-class. The varsity girls were led by Georgianna Ustaszewski taking fifth in the 145 weight-class. For the junior high teams, Lucas Marvin won the 140 weight-class and Duke McGuffey, Hayden Leeper, and Young Erikson each finished second in their respective classes.
