Nanook Volleyball Split Games in Galena, Western Conference Approaches

The Nome-Beltz Volleyball team returned from their trip to Galena this past weekend with varsity winning and JV losing.

Varsity took their win in three sets while JV was outlasted in five. Nanook volleyball coach Veronica Alviso was pleased with her varsity’s performance saying in an email, “we had a great passing game and had a chance to work on strengthening our offense.”

She also went on to state the staff in Galena was very hospitable to the team.

At this point in the season, Nome has a record of 9 wins – 13 losses, and is sitting in 3rd place in the Western Conference. At the upcoming Western Conference Tournament to be held on November 1st and 2nd, the top two teams will qualify for state. Currently the Nanooks are one and a half games behind 2nd place Kotzebue.

The Nanooks next match kicks off in Utqiagvik Friday night.
