Citizens voiced concerns surrounding the Las Vegas-based company IPOP at a public meeting held in Nome on September 20. The company is looking to dredge on Safety Sound and Bonanza Channel.

Representatives from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the US Army Corps of Engineers started the meeting with a PowerPoint presentation. They detailed the proposed mining operation and where IPOP is in the permitting process.

Listen to KNOM’s profile on the September meeting for a recap and some citizen concerns, as well as what’s next for IPOP’s proposed project.
