NSHC Promotes Nome-Grown Kelly Bogart to Hospital Services VP

Norton Sound Health Corporation (NSHC) has named Kelly Bogart its new vice president of Hospital Services. Bogart, 30, is replacing outgoing administrator Phil Hofstetter, who will take over as CEO of the Petersburg Medical Center this summer.

According to a press release, the Hospital Services department includes most hospital-based health-care divisions. Bogart will also become the nursing home administrator.

Bogart was raised in Nome and is the daughter of the late Jones Wongittilin of Savoonga and Phyllis Punguk of Nome.

She has worked for NSHC since 2014 and became assistant vice president of Hospital Services in 2015. According to the release, Bogart’s promotion makes her the first homegrown administrator since Charles Fagerstrom, Jr., resigned in 2003.

In a press release, Hofstetter calls Bogart a “gem” and says he’s excited she’ll be taking over his role.

Bogart says she’s “grateful for the opportunity” and looks forward to continued learning and growing.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the year that Charles Fagerstom, Jr. resigned from NSHC. Fagerstrom left the corporation in 2003, not 2013.
