Thursday night, 36 students from a wide range of ages and fields of study officially completed programs with the University of Alaska–Fairbanks Northwest Campus in Nome.

Following Director Bob Metcalf’s opening speech, six graduates received their associate degrees along with 15 students from Western Alaska who completed their general education diplomas (GEDs). As Northwest Campus offers unique classes and programs that are significant to the region, the commencement also featured two students who became certified in High Latitude Range Management related to reindeer herding, and six are now certified Nurse Aides.

The 42nd annual commencement ceremony was held at Old St. Joseph’s Hall in Nome and lasted about two hours.
