Nome Truck Fire Still Under Investigation

Nome Police investigators examine the truck that caught fire in the parking lot of Old St. Joe's.

The fire that broke out in a truck parked at Old St. Joe’s last week is still being investigated.

According to Nome Police sergeant Joseph Dickerson, the vehicle’s sole occupant at the time made it out of the pick-up with the help of bystanders. He suffered lacerations to his neck and was medevaced to Anchorage. His current status is not known.

A gas can was found in the truck, and Dickerson says gasoline may have played a role in the fire, but no conclusions can be drawn at this time.

KNOM will keep you updated on this story as more information becomes available.
