Over the weekend, a man was arrested in Aniak after allegedly stealing more than $1,000 worth of goods from a residence.

According to Alaska State Troopers, Friday around 4:30pm, an Aniak resident informed AST that Nickanoff Peterson was trespassing in her house. Troopers say that further investigation showed that Peterson had previously stolen almost $1,400 worth of food and alcohol from that same residence while the owner was on vacation.

Peterson was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center on two counts of burglary in the 1st degree and one charge of theft in the second degree. He also had a $2,500 warrant out for his arrest in a separate case.

Peterson has been arraigned and is scheduled to appear at the Aniak courtroom for a preliminary hearing on November 14th.
