In Unalakleet, BSSD Students Learn to Lead

Students at the 2017 BSSD Youth Leaders retreat sit in a circle on the floor of the Unalakleet school gym to tell stories.

The start of the school year is a busy time for new students, new teachers, and — in the Bering Strait School District — new Youth Leaders.

In mid-September, students selected by their peers as supportive, positive role models gathered in Unalakleet for a weekend of team-building and brainstorming.
