Frances Wright was born in Solomon, Alaska, east of the city of Nome. She lived with her family and lived off the land. She didn’t know about the existence of canned vegetables until she moved to Nome at the age of 19.
Hear Frances share stories of growing up in western Alaska. She was 94 at the time of this original interview, done in 2012 for KNOM’s Elder Voices. Elder Voices airs every Wednesday at 11am, and again at 6pm, sharing stories from cherished elders: a voice of the past, a window to the future.
