New Studios, Old Chores

Davis Hovey uses a vacuum to clean the carpeting inside KNOM's radio studios.

The entire KNOM staff pitch in to keep the station clean and tidy. To help conserve resources, for nearly a half century, the staff and volunteers have been the station’s janitors.

Over the decades, many schemes have been created to accomplish the building’s housework: chore charts, cleaning wheels, and duty delegation. This year’s preferred mode: pick a day to clean, and everyone offers their work to get the job done. This helps to keep the sparkle on both the new digital studios and the “old” production rooms.
