Stebbins

Stebbins, Alaska — KNOM reporter Emily Russell traveled to Stebbins twice this year: the first time in February and the second time in July.

The landscape throughout Western Alaska varies widely from season to season. In Stebbins, sea ice extends out from the shoreline during the winter months, serving as a highway for snowmachiners and a staging area for ice fishers.

In the summertime, the tundra turns a bright green, speckled with salmonberries, blueberries, and other fruitful plants, and fish racks line the beach.
