Emily Bieniek hails from Chicago, Illinois, although she’s spent the past four years in Indiana, pursuing a bachelor’s in anthropology at the University of Notre Dame.
Throughout her time in college, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, Asia, and the South Pacific, and she is excited to finally be serving in Alaska.
One of our newest class of 2013-2014 volunteers, Emily says she looks forward to exploring the Last Frontier, getting involved in Nome community activities, and learning about the Native cultures of Alaska.
At our station, Emily serves as our music director, reviewing and making additions to our (vast) musical catalog and overseeing the music that tens of thousands of Western Alaskans hear every day. She also serves as our cultural programs producer, in which her primary responsibility is creating the monthly show Story49.
