DOI Proposes Opening Alaska Land to Federal Trust

Alaska tribes could place their lands under federal trust, potentially opening the doors for patches of land with tribal sovereignty that would operate similar to Indian reservations in the lower-48. The changes come through a proposed rule from the Department of the Interior released Wednesday. But what that means for Alaska is uncertain.
