“YOURS FOR WESTERN ALASKA”

(907) 443-5221

Hey out there!

I am proud to say I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I grew up as a latchkey kid spending my after school hours listening to the radio and watching movies and TV while dreaming of becoming a theatre actress. Growing up I was always performing- singing in choir and at church, dance classes and competitions, and acting on stage for plays and musicals.

I joined the Army Reserves at 17 years old right out of high school.  My first career in the military found me in the fire department as a firefighter and truck operator in the motor pool. After a few years, medicine fell into my lap and I switched careers and became a nurse, both in the civilian sector and in the army.

I am truly happiest when in service to others, whether it be taking care of people as a nurse, volunteering with our local VFW, or working with my favorite ministry that supports orphans and widows in developing East African impoverished communities.

I came to Nome as a travel nurse in November 2006 “just for 3 months”. Somehow that 3 months became the last 17+ years and it’s been an honor to work and serve the amazing people of this region.

I have been a KNOM listener since day one and I am honored to have the opportunity and privilege to utilize my many years of lived experiences in this region in providing non-biased and objective news reporting to KNOM listeners and readers. I am an aspiring author and have always had a passion for writing. I am so very happy to be here and I love the creative and positive atmosphere that KNOM fosters.

In my spare time I love to travel, read, hunt, fish, go camping, hiking, anything arts and crafts, beach combing, tundra trekking, cooking and feeding people, volunteering, and of course spending time with my family, our 2 dogs and cat.
