In Nome, One Incident of “Illegitimate” Taxi Cab Practice Leads To Discussion of Bigger Picture

“As far as what the penalties for not having your chauffeur’s license are, if we happen to stop somebody that’s carrying passengers for fare and they don’t have a chauffeur’s license, then the person is subject to a fine, the company is subject to a fine, the vehicle is subject to impound…” Chief John Papasodora said after an alleged incident of improper taxi business operations.

Nome’s Municipal Election Results Challenged But Still Official

All previously-announced unofficial Municipal election results are now official, including Chuck Wheeler’s appointment to Seat D of the Utility Board, despite Carl Emmon’s challenge to Wheeler’s candidacy and the election results. The official results were canvassed during a City Council special session on Thursday at noon.
