“YOURS FOR WESTERN ALASKA”

(907) 443-5221

Uvlaaluatuq, kanuaGiitpisii? (Good morning, how are you?) My name is Janice Homekingkeo and I am excited to join the KNOM Radio Mission team.

I bring a unique blend of marketing, project management, and communication skills. I am thrilled to apply my experience to this role. I studied broadcast journalism at Columbia College in Chicago.

I grew up in Koyuk, Alaska, a surrounding village of Nome. Each summer before we left for fish camp, my late Grandma, Esther Kimoktoak, would make sure to wrap foil around the radio antenna so that we can get a better signal at camp. We enjoyed listening to the “Village Hotline” program and were always excited to call in to send birthday greetings to our cousins in neighboring villages.

Outside of work, I enjoy going on adventures with my son, Kai, hiking the Alaskan trails, and traveling.

Although it has taken me a bit long to get back to the broadcast industry, that is where my passion started. I did an internship with KNOM Radio Mission in 2013 and coming back to work for this organization is a full circle moment for me – an opportunity to give back to my region by bringing our voices and stories to the forefront.
