The race from Bethel to Aniak and back starts at 6:30pm on January 20th.
Bethel High School took home first place in this year’s Alaska Schools Activities Association ASAA 1, 2, and 3A State Championships with 264.5 points. Other teams from the region that scored included Nome, Barrow, and Kotzebue.
The countdown is on for the start of the 2017 Iditarod Sled-dog race on March 4th.
After an initial investigation, Troopers contacted 33-year-old Glen Morgan at his Aniak residence, where he was arrested on two counts of Assault in the Third Degree and one count of Robbery in the First Degree.
The Holy Cross Tribal Police Officer made an initial arrest at about 11:00pm on October 20th, but Peters, Sr., fled custody before Alaska State Troopers out of Aniak were able to acquire him on Friday, October 21st.
All three occupants inside the Aniak residence at the time made it out safely without injury.
An active search for Hamilton by Bethel Search and Rescue and well as by volunteers from the communities of Grayling, Holy Cross and Shageluk has continued into this week for missing 18-year-old Alfred Hamilton.
29-year-old Philip Simeon and 20-year-old Juliana Peterson allegedly forced entry into the Aniak store at 4:00 A.M. Wednesday morning.
Legal alcohol sales began in Bethel last week. Some community leaders are concerned about how sales may affect dry villages.
The Kuskokwim 300 starts this Friday, and Diana Haecker will be running the race for the first time.
