In a release Wednesday, the Alaska State Council on the Arts says they are committed to protecting artistic expression of Alaska Native people through cultural practices.
The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017 was announced on Wednesday, December 14th. Joining NYO competitor Nicole Johnston are Iditarod champions Martin Buser and Jeff King, as well as Vern Tejas, the first solo climber to finish a winter ascent of Denali.
Their merger with Virgin America makes Alaska Airlines the fifth largest airline in the nation. The merger agreement was signed in April and approved in July by Virgin America shareholders.
Shareholders ages 65 and over as of December 7, 2016 will be eligible to receive a $500 Elder dividend. In addition, regular SNC shareholders will receive a dividend of $6.00 per share.

A funeral Mass will be held for Nancy McGuire on Saturday, November 19th at 2pm at Nome’s St. Joseph Catholic Church.
