Sexual assault and domestic violence have been discussed more frequently in Nome recently.

The City Council is working with a group of residents who have proposed changes to how these issues are currently being handled locally.

Kawerak and the Bering Sea Women’s Group continued that public conversation earlier this month by hosting a conference focused on sexual assault and domestic violence.

If you are still healing, if you want to talk to someone, or if you need immediate assistance, please call the Bering Sea Women’s Group: 1-800-570-5444 or 907-443-5444. Other resources are available online as well.
