The season keeps rolling for Western Alaska basketball teams as Nome and Unalakleet play on each other’s home courts this weekend.

The Lady Wolfpack hosts the Lady Nanooks, while the Nanooks boys host Unalakleet. Both boys and girls will play a two-game series this Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Nanooks are coming off a successful last weekend of games outside Fairbanks. They won a game against Eilson and had a second-place finish in the Delta Tournament, after a tie game with Valdez. The Nanooks boys had a close loss to Eilson, 48–42, and took fifth at the Delta Tournament, winning one of their three games.

Three Nanooks were named to the all-tournament team: Taeler Brunette, Gareth Hansen, and Lisa Okbaok. Bobby Koezuna and Kerry Ahmasuk won individual three-point shooting awards.

On the Wolfpack side of things, both Unalakleet teams played at the Cordova High School Tipoff last weekend. The girls took three losses, against Anchorage Christian, Palmer JV and Cordova. The boys had more success, with two wins over Anchorage Chrisitan JV and Cordova.

The boys tip off Friday at Nome-Beltz High School at 8 p.m. The girls also tip off Friday at 8 p.m., at the Unalakleet School.
