Two Months Until K300 Race Start, One Veteran Musher Withdraws, One Female Musher Remains

A banner reading "Start/Finish" and adorned with antlers hangs over an icy, snowy field against a colorful sunset.

19 mushers are now signed up to compete in the 2018 Kuskokwim 300 sled dog race.

As of Wednesday, the list included Joar Leifseth Ulsom, Aaron Burmeister, and Victoria Hardwick, the only female musher signed up thus far.

Earlier in November, Jason Mackey was also registered to compete, but according to the latest info from K300, Mackey has withdrawn from the 2018 race.

Interested mushers have until December 15th to sign up for the price of a cheaper entry fee. After that time, the fee doubles to $800. Once the mushers begin the race on January 19th, their entry fees will be refunded to them.

The 2018 K300 sled dog race has a musher limit of 30, and it’s now less than two months until the race start in Bethel.
