Elder Voices: Felix Walker, Sr.

An aerial view over a snowy, coastal Alaska village in wintertime

Hear stories from Felix Walker, Sr., of Hooper Bay and Scammon Bay, in this week’s rebroadcast of Elder Voices. Felix spoke to us in 2006 about seal hunting, working as an art teacher, and supporting the youth in his community.

Felix remembers his childhood in Hooper Bay as peaceful, a time with few airplanes and no snowmachines. Even the weather was serene. “I guess the world was following the quiet people,” says Felix.

You can hear more from Felix by tuning in to KNOM this Wednesday, May 3rd, at 11am and 6pm. Elder Voices: a window to the past, a door to the future.
