Story49: The Champions

Nick Hanson

American Ninja Warrior and the Miss United States pageant. A television show and a national competition that pit people against each other until one winner emerges. Or at least, that’s what viewers might assume.

But in this month’s episode of Story49, Nick Hanson of American Ninja Warrior and Rosemary Berg, Miss Alaska, tell a different story. Not only did they find a supportive environment in their respective competitions, but they are also finding success off the national stage as they work to inspire future generations of young leaders back home.

“I want to overcome something, and I want to reach a goal that I’ve set for myself,” said Nick. “And that’s what I preach to my kids. So if I wasn’t to lead by example, what kind of coach am I?”

To hear Nick and Rosemary recount both their victories and the times they felt less-than-victorious, tune in to Story49 on KNOM (780 AM, 96.1 FM) on Sunday, November 20th, at 6:00pm, and then again on Thursday, November 24th, at 3:00pm. You can also listen online using the audio player above.
