Happy 114th Birthday, City of Nome!

Anvil City Square, Nome

Normally, it’s our listeners that create and send hotline messages*, but today — April 9th — we have a hotline of our own to send.

Today is our hometown’s birthday. It was on April 9th, 1901 that the City of Nome was first incorporated. So, for today, a special birthday message to our hometown:

TO: The City and People of Nome
FROM: KNOM Radio in Nome

It was on this day in 1901 that you, the City of Nome, were first incorporated. A very Happy, Sweet 114th Birthday! You don’t look a day over 105. Many more years to come!

On this day — and every day, throughout the year — we’re proud to be Yours for Western Alaska, and we couldn’t be prouder to broadcast, each day, from the heart of downtown Nome. We’re proud to be K-Nome.

Many more years to come, Nome.
