Story49: Spenser McCleskey

This month, Story49 honors Nome’s gold rush history at the start of the dredging season.

22-year-old Spenser McCleskey is part of the contemporary gold rush, and has lived in Nome for the past four years as a year-round resident.

In this episode, Spenser shares his personal passion for mining, how he has seen the mining community in Nome change since the Discovery Channel began its Bering Sea Gold series, and the challenges and benefits of owning his own small business.
