Kaiser’s girlfriend and son Ari greet him under the burled arch in Nome.

Pulling under the burled arch in the darkness of morning, Bethel’s Pete Kaiser finished the 2014 Iditarod in 13th place. Pete was greeted by his girlfriend and son, a group of race officials, and fans.

Pete’s young team arrived with a pep in their step and frost on their faces. Since they are young dogs, he said they were shooting for a respectable finish, and just hoping to make it to Nome running at their own pace. His team did finish well. And after this run, they will be well prepared for long-distance races next year. Watch out for Pete Kaiser in 2015.
