Children’s Creative Writing Contest Winners

Christmas ornaments in KNOM lobby

Christmas ornaments hang in the window of KNOM’s studio lobby on a wet December afternoon.

Congratulations to Sarah Wade of Nome, winner of The Morning Show’s Children’s Creative Writing Contest!

We received many outstanding submissions from our region. Almost all of this year’s entries were fiction pieces, so we decided to merge all our categories (poetry, fiction, and non-fiction) into one.

The winners were as follows:

  • 1st Place: Sarah Wade, “The Keeper of the Key”
  • 2nd Place: Raina McRae, “Christmas Town”
  • 3rd Place: Reese Banhke, “Edward Kenway’s First Christmas on a Boat”
  • 4th Place: Britney Gold, “1,000 Stars”
  • Honorable mention to Vivienne Heers for “The Alien Dog.”
  • Honorable mention to Aaron M. for “Aaron’s Poem.”

If you have not done so yet, contest winners AND raffle winners can pick up prizes at the KNOM Studios any time on Christmas Eve or after Christmas Day.

Contest winners’ prizes:

  • 1st place: MP3 player, iTunes gift card, and t-shirt
  • 2nd place: Ukelele, uke chord book, and t-shirt
  • 3rd place: Skateboard!
  • 4th place: Telescope
  • Honorable mention: KNOM t-shirt

Thank you again to the parents, the teachers, and, especially, the children and students who entered. Great work! Merry Christmas to you from the KNOM Morning Show.
