“YOURS FOR WESTERN ALASKA”

The project turns inward

Ric, Marian, and Tom in our future digital studios

Our construction – on the Tom and Florence Busch Digital Studios – heads indoors as winter nears.

By the time you read this, we expect to be in the early stages of putting in electrical wiring, insulation, and all the other components that will transform our structure into a fully-functional studio annex.

Our future studio space has come a long way in just a few months; it’s a testament to the hard work of our construction crews and the incredible support of our KNOM family. Pictured within are general manager Ric Schmidt and visiting supporters Tom and Marian Braun (read more about the Brauns here).

Our future digital studios, interior

Our new digital studios – an expansion of our current studio space – will both increase our offices and modernize them. The construction and renovation will replace our aging, analog equipment (audio wiring, sound boards, etc.) with digital tools that will be more cost-efficient and far easier to maintain; this is a key benefit, since equipment maintenance is such a challenge in rural Alaska. We view this project as vital to our mission; it will lay a crucial groundwork for the decades to come.

To date, our studio funds are just past the halfway point of our goal. As always, to learn more or to get involved, we invite you to visit our digital studios page. Or just give us a call! (907) 443-5221.
