| On November 30, 2008, Bishop Donald Kettler administered the
Sacrament of Confirmation to twelve Nome youth. Four of them were
children of former full-time KNOM volunteers. In the back row from left to right: Bishop Kettler, Sam Schmidt (son of Ric Schmidt (1984-85) and Lynette Schmidt (1982-85)), Nathan Blandford, son of Brian and Anne (Diffenbaugh) Blandford (1977-78), Tim Schmidt, also son of Ric and Lynette, and Taylor Romanesko, son of Terry and Randy Romanesko (1982-83). Standing in front is Linda Peters, RN, who taught the confirmation class. From 1982-83, and again from 1984-1991, Linda was a KNOM support nurse, working at Nome's hospital and living as a volunteer, donating her entire salary to the mission. By far, she holds the record as longest full-time KNOM volunteer. |
