Amy Flaherty joined KNOM as a volunteer in June 2002. After two years, she became a permanent staff member, and serves as public affairs director. You'll also hear her deejaying the mid-day program.
Raised in Cottage Grove, MN, Amy graduated
from the College of St.
Benedict in 2002 with a degree in communications and English.
In addition to working at the KNOM mission,
Amy is a juvenile justice officer part-time at Nome's youth detention
facility. She enjoys reading, especially the classics, and she
likes to bike,
which can be challenging on Nome's gravel streets. A friend gave
her a harmonica last year, and she plans to learn how to play it, and
to
learn to knit.
