KNOM Programming

KNOM blends inspiration, news, education, and music to provide education, inspiration and uplifting companionship for listeners. KNOM plays a wide variety of music - everything from contemporary top 40 and country to Christian rock and local Eskimo drum music.

KNOM's program schedule is packed with nearly 200 inspirational and educational spots each day, 90 minutes of local news, 120 minutes of national news, and 120 minutes of local weather.

KNOM's program sounds similar to many commercial stations, but in place of the commercials, KNOM inserts 30 and 60-second inspirational and educational spots.

KNOM also plays a number of special programs, including the live broadcast of Sunday Mass from St. Joseph Church in Nome, the nightly "Family Rosary," and an inspirational spot which preaches the following week's Gospel, as well as a number of programs from other religious broadcasters.

Most hours, KNOM broadcasts state and local news, national news, and weather forecasts for the eight major forecast regions within its coverage area. KNOM also provides live coverage of important local events like health conferences, public meetings and election debates.

KNOM has established itself as a news leader in the state of Alaska, frequently contributing to the state Associated Press.
