Over the weekend, ten students from Nome Elementary went to the junior NYO games at Begich Middle School in Anchorage. They came home with some impressive results.

Sixth grader Orlin Gologrogen took second in the boy’s Alaskan High Kick. Also taking second was Emily Pomreneke, in the girl’s Scissor Broad Jump. Taeler Brunette took 4th in the girl’s Scissor Broad Jump. For the boy’s Scissor Broad Jump, Harrison Moore took 5th.

Other Nome athletes at the JNYO games this weekend were Katherine Scott, Elizabeth Alowa, Kastyn Lie, Jamie Yi, Randel Iyatunguk, and Sammy Wilkalkia.

In this Profile, some of the student athletes – as well as their coach, Nome Elementary PE teacher Joni Earp – talk about their season and the benefits of NYO games.
